How to Clean Your Slurper or Banger: 3 Easy Ways to Keep It Perfect Every Time
What You’ll Need
- 70%+ isopropyl alcohol
- Alcohol swabs
- Long cotton swabs
- A dabber or stick to attach the alcohol swab to
- Small glass or stainless container (for soak method)
- Silicone mat or towel for drying
🔹 Always remove pearls or pillars before cleaning.
🔹 Quartz should be warm enough to loosen residue, but not hot.
1. Alcohol Swab on Dabber (Fastest Clean)
Best for: quick wipe right after use, before residue dries.
Steps:
- Let the piece cool until it’s warm and safe to touch.
- Wrap an alcohol swab around the end of a dabber or stick — this gives you reach into all corners.
- Wipe the inner walls, floor, and edges while the residue is still soft.
- Let air-dry. Done.
This method prevents buildup from ever forming.
2. Long Cotton Swab Method (Ideal for Slurpers)
Best for: channels, walls, and deeper shapes.
Steps:
- Remove pearls or pillar first.
- While the quartz is still warm, dip a long cotton swab in alcohol and squeeze off excess.
- Rotate the swab through the chamber, channel, and lower section.
- Swap to a clean swab and repeat until it looks clear.
Cleaning while warm means you’re wiping — not scraping.
3. Short Alcohol Soak/Iso Dunk (Reset Clean)
Best for: when the quartz is still warm and the alcohol can dissolve the residue easily.
Steps:
- Let the piece cool slightly — warm, not hot.
- Remove pearls or pillar.
- Dunk the quartz in a small glass or stainless container with 70%+ isopropyl alcohol. (90%+ preferred)
- Soak for 15–30 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water and air-dry.
This works best before residue hardens. If it cools and sticks, it takes longer to dissolve.
General Maintenance Tips
- Clean while the surface is warm — don’t wait for residue to cool and harden.
- Keep alcohol swabs, cotton swabs, and a dabber nearby so cleaning is automatic.
- Never scrape quartz with metal tools or abrasive pads.
- Remove pearls/pillars before wiping or soaking — they trap residue.
Heat & Quartz Longevity
Quartz lasts much longer if you avoid reheating old residue.
✅ Try to stay under 350°F
✅ Reheating leftover residue cooks it into the surface
✅ The “warm wipe” method keeps quartz clear and reduces deep cleaning
Simple rule:
If you clean it warm, it stays clean.
If you heat the residue again, you’re baking it in.
